If I dare?? I have five children of color adopted from foster care. I have closely followed the controversy over police violence for the past few years because i owe it to my kids to prepare them for the biases they will face. I have absolutely no fear of facts. My issue is, much of what is presented to support assertions of rampant police racism are anything but facts. The truth is somewhere in the middle. My personal opinion is that most of the animosity toward the police by the minority community is well earned, but for a different reason. What i see are municipalities, huge numbers of them, treating the poorest and weakest in their communities as an atm machine, and turning their police departments into revenue agents whose primary role is to ticket and fine at every possible opportunity, targeting those least able to fight back. That breeds fear and contempt for the police because the people know the police are preying on them. Read the DOJ report on the city of Ferguson police department, and extrapolate that attitude across the country. Then throw in asset forfeiture to boot. We have a problem alright, it’s mercenary government that treats citizens as marks to be fleeced.
