OK, except that there hasn’t been a single crime committed in the US since the Capone era where the perpetrators used an automatic weapon, and the assault weapons ban was dropped because there wasn’t a single charge of violating the ban in over a decade. The key here, is that the weapons you most object to are rarely used to commit crimes, and even handgun statutes don’t prevent law abiding citizens with clean records from purchasing semi-automatic rifles, aka, Micah Johnson. Even if you succeed in getting Heller thrown out, the assertion in the second amendment, that citizens have a right to keep and bear arms is not going to go away. Securing a free state isn’t about a government army protecting us from foreign domination, it codifies the right of citizens to replace their own government.

One thing that I’ve always marveled at with Democrats is that they appear to have little fear of government, even though a thousand years of history clearly, and repeatedly demonstrates the danger represented by central governance.
