So Google, far left ProPublica, and the data visualization company Pitch Interactive have developed a tool they will use to aggregate data on their political enemies and feed it to pliable “journalists”, and I’m supposed to be happy because today’s target for destruction is White Supremacists.

Now tell me why I shouldn’t be a lot more afraid of one of the most powerful internet entities on the planet who has the power to remove their political enemies from search engines, and has already demonstrated a willingness to manipulate search results for the benefit of their political allies?

How do I as a virtually powerless private citizen protect myself from your immense power being deployed against me, especially when you have been openly aligning yourself with one of our two political parties?

You’re going to use your power to destroy those committing hate crimes or thought crimes. Good for you, but who’s your next target?

You didn’t invest all this time and money, and develop new data aggregation tools solely for this project. Those tools will be deployed again, against another party you decide is the enemy.

Please clarify for me why I as a private citizen should trust you to do the right thing?

And for anyone wondering just how much data Google collects, take a look for yourself @ myactivity.google.com.

I peeked at mine today after reading an article about Google collecting the recordings of what we say to voice search.

I found my browser history for all my computers, tablets, and my phone, the complete record of all the activity on my phone, calls, google searches, browser, and exactly what time I did all those things. And I found a map detailing the location of my phone for every moment from the past several years, including complete vacation histories across several states and foreign countries.

Now combine that with the capability announced in this essay, and ask yourself why anyone should EVER have access to that level of detail about other people’s lives.

No, I’m not saying Google is evil and I know they use all that to figure out what ads to put in front of me. That said, who’s to say Google will remain innocous, or that Google won’t be forced to share that data with authoritarian governments? (like the progressives who want to throw out the first amendment and defend physical violence against their political enemies). I’m sure the NSA, the police, and Google’s allies at the DNC would find it all quite useful.. Heck, I can see border guards demanding you show them your google history before allowing you into the country, or a state trooper demanding to see it during a traffic stop or after an accident.

Just imagine all the wonderful possibilities.
