Uh, this isn’t new, it’s been happening for several years. Telling international employees to travel with empty phones and wiped laptops isn’t routine, but lots of companies already do it, especially if the employee deals with r&d, sensitive financial data, drug trial information etc.

That said, i traveled to Canada last month and nobody asked for my phone nor any of the seven laptops and tablets my family was carrying.

Our privacy laws haven’t kept pace with technology at all.
