What about all your other students? What message does it send if you ignore a kid who’s obviously high in class? Is the school supposed to ignore a “substantial” amount of pot on campus? His punishment wasn’t severe, and as far as fault, why is it yours and not his? I recognize there are systemic issues in our justice system, but we can’t blame the system and ignore personal responsibility much less that of his family. Wasn’t it more likely that whatever issue drove him to come to school stoned had much more to do with his later struggles than his short stint at an alternative campus?
