Yeah, the whole “destiny” thing, which completely disregards free will. Even some Christian religions try to claim that salvation is through your choice to believe, and yet your choice is somehow preordained.

I would have to put the theory that ideals precede reality in the same wastebasket. We develop ideals by witnessing the brutality of our fellow humans, of all stripes. I remember Hannah Arendt encountered a great deal of resistance to her remarks about the banality of evil, that most or each of us is capable of evil under specific circumstances.
