Doing something everyone says is impossible

I’ve had many occasions in my life when people have created limited beliefs for me. They’ve literally taught me that I can’t do something because of their own limiting beliefs.

History repeats itself.

Historically this isn’t new. I vaguely remember the story of the first man to run less than a four minute mile in 1954. Everyone told him it was impossible physically to do it. They said no human could do it. He didn’t care. He used this limiting belief as his motivation.

He would run relentlessly trying to beat his own times until one day he did it. 3 minutes 59 seconds. He did it. News spread quickly that a man had ran a mile in under four minutes. All of a sudden reports started coming across the country of more and more people running miles in less than four minutes.

Today the record is at 3:43.13. That’s right. Three minutes, forty-three, point thirteen seconds.

To think that had this first man accepted the status quo and believed the limiting beliefs of those around him he would’ve never achieved what he was truly capable of doing.

You can create your own reality.

I’ve always been a dreamer and I have to work hard every day to prevent the limiting beliefs of others from influencing my decisions. I even have to prevent myself from creating my own limiting beliefs.

This comes down to you being mentally strong, not accepting the status quo, and keeping your commitments made to self.

One of my favorite quotes is:

Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right. -Henry Ford

There’s not much I can add to this. You are in control of what you can accomplish. The difference between those that do and those that don’t are the actions they take.

If anyone reads this I hope that they make a change. If you have a dream do one thing this week, this month, this year that brings you that much closer to achieving your dream. You at least have one person cheering for you: Me.
