In Peaks, Valleys, and Pastures, Ro’ers give you a look into the most exciting and most challenging parts of their work at Ro, as well as what they are most looking forward to. With our Tech Org being the largest and fast-growing part of our company, the day-to-day can look vastly across each team as we work to build a patient-centric healthcare system. Don’t miss out on opportunities to join our growing team — explore careers at Ro here.

Hi! My name is Trpti and I’m originally from Mumbai, India, but I’m currently based in NYC. I joined Ro in November 2020 after working at a precision medicine and life science boutique consulting firm in LA.

I am one of two analysts tasked with supporting Ro’s weight management offering. In this capacity, I am responsible for analyses including but not limited to attribution, acquisition, conversion, experimentation, fulfillment, and retention. I personally enjoy collaborating across the team for designing, developing, and analyzing experiments to subsequently contextualize them for various stakeholders as business metrics and patient health outcomes.

I was drawn to Ro to further the mission of democratizing access by revolutionizing healthcare through technology. As someone who was considering pre-med track in college, I believed that joining a tech healthcare startup would be an immensely rewarding experience as it would lead to solving complex problems in the healthcare space at scale.

Last year, my team was responsible for helping Ro distribute at-home COVID tests to patients nationwide. This initiative not only helped thousands during the holiday season, but it was also an exciting opportunity to 1) build table stakes product launch monitoring without any prior data and 2) support a new business decision made based on the need of patients.

Members of the Data Team at Ro

The entire team was working collaboratively and swiftly responding to real-time patient feedback. For me, this initiative embodied Ro’s mission — utilizing our vertically integrated technology to provide affordable and accessible care to patients in the comfort of their homes.

Outside of work, I have recently made my foray into Web3! While I have been making art with code since I graduated college, I have started to take it more seriously by minting generative art on the blockchain — you can find it here and here. It’s been a fun creative outlet for me and I’m thrilled to be contributing to a new wave of art history. My art aims at pursuing the intersection of art-science and tradition-modernity through creative coding👩‍💻

Ro recently entered the fertility space with the acquisition of Modern Fertility and Dadi and I have been assisting with integrating Modern Fertility into the Ro ecosystem.

Since I am fairly new to Modern Fertility, I’ve been diligent about documenting the nuances between the platforms which can be a fairly intense process. I know future Trpti (also the data team) will thank me for thorough documentation, but as a more manual process it tends to be deprioritized when ranked against other tasks. I’ve been crowdsourcing some ideas from the data team on best practices here, and I’ve realized that the ideal way to document is to do it in real-time, solicit feedback on potential knowledge gaps from team members sooner rather than later, and to be as comprehensive as possible.

There’s never a dull day at Ro! We are always innovating to fix some of the most pertinent problems in the healthcare space. I am most excited to see what we can accomplish for our patients this year as we continue to expand Ro’s direct-to-patient platform to support mental health, women’s health, men’s health, fertility, metabolic health, diagnostics, and skincare.

While it is exciting to be scaled across different problems and patient populations, it is even more exciting (admittedly, selfish) from a data perspective because there are multiple experiments and subsequent learnings to glean from each of these initiatives. To support extensible learning, the data team is actively working on reproducible frameworks on how we can share solutions and knowledge in an effective way. I am super excited to see how we continue to collaborate, grow, and learn across horizontal and vertical teams.

It’s thrilling to see how all the puzzle pieces are coming together so that we can truly be the patient’s first call!
