I believe there will always be a need for traditional public transport, although it would be incorporated into the system. Clearly it would still be the best means of a mass transportation of medium to large groups of people when their journeys would have a collective goal from and to a particular point, that being a hub such as a business districts, sports stadia or airports for example. It would be far more efficient and cost effective than everyone having their individual modes of transport. I would also be fascinated by the effect on high speed needs, especially emergency service vehicles.
