PNK2030’s Agenda, In Their Own Words, Is To “Influence The Outcome of” the Election in order to “Impair the Almost Proprietary Control Exerted By Two Legacy Supervisors.”

Many questions have been flying around about PNK2030, and many more have been raised from an e-mail that was sent in the past week.

The Partnership added this FAQ to their site recently:

So here they admit that their aim is to influence the outcome of the election on Tuesday. But to what end? Because they have said things like this:

Of note, this sentence: “We are committed to the long term and will continue to work with any administration the voters select this November.”

They have also, to county leaders, said this:

Source: FOIA

So, they are “not attempting to interfere in County business.” Also, they are “self-appointed citizen and taxpayer advocates.” They appointed themselves to be our advocates? Do they represent you? That’s what elected officials do. We have a say in who we elect to represent us, but we had no say in their self-appointment to represent us, and we still have very little clear idea what their agenda is “on our behalf.”

With all of this as background, also keep in mind these words from the Daily Press editorial about PNK2030 in mind:

“PNK2030′s efforts to get more people involved in local government are noble. But any efforts to usurp existing forms of governance by paying to insert candidates into positions so they can enforce the group’s directives are concerning.

If they are elected to office, who will these people take direction from, Mr. Poindexter or the residents who pay their salaries?”

Now with all of this in mind, I present to you the following e-mail that was sent to some PNK2030 contacts and supporters recently.

So, the agenda of PNK2030 is, by their own public admission, to influence the outcome of the election on Tuesday, and now we know that the end they are hoping to achieve with this is to “impair the almost proprietary control exerted by two legacy Supervisors over most serious government decisions.” They seem to think that they know better than the voters who is best to run our County, and they intend to get them installed. Could this have anything to do with the fact that Mr. Poindexter and some other PNK2030 members who own land and/or businesses in the County but do not live here can’t vote in New Kent, and are relying on the PAC to influence County decisions more in their favor?

Many New Kent residents have been rallying around the premise that their voice has been taken. Do you care that PNK2030 is attempting to take your voice, without your consent or approval, and without even explaining the criteria that they used to select their endorsed candidates? If this bothers you, be sure to take your own voice back on Tuesday. Do you want a County government that represents your voice, or do you want to allow PNK2030 to usurp your voice and speak and act “on your behalf?” Show them which you prefer at the ballot box.

Disclaimer: I am not working on behalf of any campaign, political committee, or person. I am not a member of any campaign or political committee. I am not being paid by anyone for what I am doing. I am simply a concerned citizen, living in the 3rd district in New Kent County, who believes the impact that we as citizens and voters can have in our community is one of the most important things that we can do to ensure that our families can live in the community we want it to be. A full understanding of our candidates is thus, essential. My only agenda is truth and transparency, and I speak only for myself.

Please keep any comments respectful and helpful.
