A Friend as Good as Me

So what makes up a friend?

Well it’s different for everyone.

A criteria should be put in place,

But that’s just my opinion.

I don’t think I’ll ever find a friend as good as me.

The greatest quality in a friend is loyalty

But it’s desperately hard to find.

The reason for this is because people are selfish

Therefore be careful with friends whom you become aligned.

I’ve been told not to have such high expectations,

People are going to let you down

Because let’s face it, we’re all imperfect creations.

But I believe despite all that, a true friend can still be found.

I don’t think I’ll ever find a friend as good as me.

But I’m not asking for perfection, you see,

Just have an interest in my life.

For I am sick of maintaining a friendship

That gives nothing but internal strife.

I don’t think I’ll ever find a friend as good as me.

Friendship should be treasured rather than maintained,

A two-way street and not a highway.

A true friend must be loyal and dependable,

Otherwise the relationship is doomed to fail.

Friendship requires effort and forgiveness,

Remember these helpful hints.

I hope to one day find a friend as good as me.
