A warning from Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and Stephen Hawking
Quincy Larson

I have been trying to educate the people around me about UBI being necessary. I like the idea of a robot tax and also of subsidized education in the engineering field. While automation is definitely scary and will affect employment rates, I don’t necessarily think it will be “bad”. Some jobs will become obsolete, but that is life! As we evolve and modernize, we shed our past traditions and occupations. Something pretty amazing happens after that though-we innovate and create new products and services! In addition, I think a lot of jobs wherein people like to socialize and engage will remain, even if they *could* be automated. You’ll always have different markets. Lastly, automation could allow us to live our lives more leisurely, spending time cultivating relationships, bettering society, and researching/discovering our planet.
