Oh, my friends. I know it is not your problem. I know more deeply and fully than you ever will that this is not your problem. I feel the sting of this being my problem every day. I carry the weight of this being my problem along with me everywhere I go. It is not your problem. It is, in ways you will never be able to comprehend, my problem.
We occupy positions of greater overall privilege than many of you by every abstract measure. We hoard wealth and power, and make horrifying decisions about both. But our secret is that we are miserable victims of our own history of trauma and harm, and we make those choices out of desperate fear of loss. We are walking nuclear melt downs spreading disaster around us, because our war with ourselves has gotten that out of control.
