Synergy at Massively
I’ve worked corporate jobs since my early twenties, and one of my habits has been to keep a list of the most cringe-worthy buzzwords I hear in meetings at the back of my notebook. In particular, “synergy” has always bugged me, but mostly because I feel like it gets tossed around carelessly. Synergy truly means to be more than the sum of one’s parts, not just two things happening at the same time. An element of chemistry or magic must be present in order for the term to apply.
Lately, my attitude has been changing because I see synergy in action on a daily basis at Massively. As the Community Manager, I am often the fly on the wall during amazing moments where creative exploration meets technical agility. Synergy manifests in the way our tech folks solve problems with great imagination, while our creative team’s work is well-reasoned and methodical. And it all happens in the same room. The result is fluid, efficient chat bots and platform solutions that speak to people. Literally.
To that end, the most fun types of projects for us to dig into are entertainment-focused bots for major feature films. We’ve created bots for Insidious: Chapter 3, The Forest, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and most recently Star Trek and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. These campaigns gives us a chance to use our most imaginative ideas to push our own technical boundaries to make bots that people want to talk to.
Our bot for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in particular let us explore new ground. The experience plays out on Kik, where chatters are flipped from one turtle to the next, beginning with mikey.partydude. Each turtle has different thoughts about turtle life, pizza, and the story that plays out in the film, and thanks to our dedicated writers, speaks to the user in its own unique voice.
With hundreds of thousands of Kik users chatting with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles experience, it seems like our very human approach to creating bots just works.
If you’re interested in creating bots that have a human touch, you can also use the Massively Authoring Platform to springboard your creative ideas into fully functional bots. Sign up and start creating bots at http://author.massively.ai
