So, Mindy decides that she is more needed at home.

This is an interesting transition in the show. It seemed to me as though Mindy was portrayed as a strong and empowered business woman, but she ultimately gave in to the hegemonic idology of female gender roles. I would like to know if her decision to be a stay at home mom due to her fiancé’s persistence was portrayed in a negative light and if she was shown as “weak” by giving in. Perhaps this show still defies these gender roles by demonstrating to the audience the consequences to giving up her career goals. As if to say “look how great life was before she gave up her dreams.”
