You have a great point and your argument is completely accurate. However, I think advertisements that sexualize womens bodies, for example, have a similar strategy. These advertisers are also targeting consumers that respond to these types of ads. The purpose of all company advertisements are to get people to buy their products. Therefore, I would take a popular Dove ad over an oversexualized Carl Juniors ad any day. In my opinion, the fact that the Dove ad campaign has so many views is a great for society because it means we are moving in the right direction.
