The more common problem I’ve experienced is the lack of empowerment given to single, Christian women. Because of the idolization of marriage in Christianity, even the casual “getting to know you” phase of romance carries instant expectations. The pressure of this has made a lot of Christian men I’ve met apathetic towards (or downright fearful of) dating. Men’s apathy is compounded by churches telling women they should let men initiate. The end result is a stagnant dating culture where everyone is seen as friends and no one is seen as a potential partner. The feminist in me bristles at the idea of women having to quietly wait for men to notice them. But…
