Marketers used discipline of direct marketing, with its emphasis on quantitative measurement , scenario modeling , and database full of queries
But now marketers uses the layer of discipline of direct marketing but their answers also includes A/B tests, landing pages, viral factor, email support, and Graphs etc.
As per today’s scenario , Marketing team don’t have bunch of non-technical marketers instead they have engineers for leading the teams. The process of integrating your product to a desired platform requires a mix-up of marketing strategies , product and engineering.
Projects includes social media signups , email support , no. of visitors etc. — they are not technical decisions but they are tools used by marketers to win the market.
Many projects like dropbox , evernote ,Zynga have gain millions of customers in much less time because marketers have used social networking platform to market their products. This not only give them a huge market but faster results.
Before the emergence of social media , marketers were using newspapers , TV or retail store ads to promote their products and to gain customers. For this one don’t require any coding knowledge. They were just supposed to bring salient features of a product into limelight and gain customers , But now-a-days marketers spread their products by distributing it on the platform using API.
Today business development is API centric, not people centric. This has changed the whole scenario of marketing the product.
Integration of social networking in the product is working . The role of VP of Marketing is no longer a non-technical rather a new breed of marketer/ coder hybrids have emerged.
