A Proud Brandt Mom

This is the first in a five-part series highlighting stories of parents’ experiences in the Hoboken Public Schools Kindergarten program at the four schools in the district. These stories are published in conjunction with the Kindergarten Visitation Days happening through the month of February at the various schools.

Both of our children, Madeline (Kindergarten) and Justin (PreK-4), attend the Joseph F. Brandt school. The teachers both children have had are caring and motivated educators who understand the needs of our children. The administration has devoted countless hours to integrating the whole family into school life, including projects to discuss family backgrounds, or designing cut outs in their own image.

My favorite aspect of Kindergarten at Brandt is the gradual steps the children are making to more independence through homework, the science fair, and dramatic art class. We have seen our daughter grow and develop in Kindergarten. I see how she works more independently at home than she did last year.

We are advocates of public superior free education for all. Brandt has exceeded our expectations in terms of quality, diversity, and integrity in education.

What are you waiting for? Sign your child up for Kindergarten in Brandt. My child, at 5 years old, is reading, doing addition and subtraction, and sings songs to me in Spanish!
