Newsletter: Instagram, Valentine’s Day and #GoNative

Goodbye January, hello February.
Now you’re all back on the booze and red meat we have an array of delights returning to the counter! We’re welcoming back our Guernsey rose veal and Hebridean mutton but we only have a little of each as they’re a bit special, so make sure to give us a shout if you’d like some put aside.

Our new year’s resolution is to be better at keeping our Instagram updated!

Valentine’s Day

For Valentine’s Day we’re working with Taste Tradition to get plenty of native-breed steak on the counter. We’ll be going for a perfect 30-day aged so it’ll be the ideal treat.

However, if you want something unusual, now is a good time to let us know so we can begin sourcing it. We have already had, rather unearvingly, as request for lamb’s testicals…

Our friends at the Rare Breed Survival Trust do great work in promoting and protecting the UK’s native breeds.

Without them we and many of the UK’s native breeds wouldn’t exist. When they were established in the ’70s, many breeds we going extinct or on the verge. Since then, many of those once endangered breeds are thriving and native-breed specialist butchers are popping up all over.

If you’d like to keep up to date with their interesting and important work, you can follow their #GoNative campaign via their Facebook page:
