As a lover of comic books, graphic novels, artists, superheroes movies and TV series I’m giddy about being involved with this project. Who hasn’t spun around like Wonder Woman as a young girl or maybe, um, yesterday? To see her and so many other brilliant superheroes in print, in cool TV series and on the big screen bringing justice to the world makes my heart sing.
Thrilled to announce that I’m moderating my first education/how to panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con with an amazing group of panelists.

Education Panel/How To: Are Superheroes Social Justice Warriors? How to Educate, Illuminate and Bring Diversity and Social Change Through Comics.
Comic books have been pointing out injustice and bringing social issues to light since their outset. Over the years, this has ebbed and flowed, and currently, there is a merry war between both sides of the coin of too much and not enough. The comic industry is booming along with films and television series about superheroes. These panelists will share their thoughts on this topic and how current commentary on social justice and diversity have affected this industry.

Erica Lindbeck is an actress currently residing in Los Angeles, California. She received her Theater Degree from the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television, and is most well-known for her voiceover work in video games & animation. Erica is thrilled to be involved in numerous projects, having played the roles of Cheetara and Wily Kit in the upcoming ThunderCats Roar, Miriam in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Mordred in Fate/Apocrypha, Ves-Ves in Sailor Moon, Dr. Jane Foster in Avengers: Secret Wars, Windblade in Transformers: RID Combiner Force, Celica in the Fire Emblem series, Menat in Street Fighter V, Futaba Sakura in Persona 5, Magilou in Tales of Berseria, Taliyah & Zoe in League of Legends, Kaori Miyazono in Your Lie in April, Anaru in Anohana, Eli Ayase in Love Live! Matt Nix graduated from UCLA in 1994 with a degree in Political Science. He started off writing and directing several award-winning short films, which led to a career writing feature film scripts. As a screenwriter, he worked at most of the major studios writing movies that never got made before finally turning his attention to television. He is best known as the creator, writer, and executive producer of the USA Network hit series Burn Notice which ran from 2007 to 2014, spending several of those years as the highest rated show on basic cable. He’s also created the shows The Good Guys, The Comedians, and Complications. He currently runs an X-men spinoff series he created for Fox called The Gifted.
Matt routinely speaks to students of all ages on film, television, and writing. He brings a troupe of film actors to middle schools for a “Shakespeare Day” every year, he teaches classes on storytelling at various high schools, and he is a regular guest-speaker for film classes at USC. Every year Matt teaches a popular seminar at the prestigious “ Showrunner Training Program” for high-level writers and producers trying to make the jump into creating and running their own television shows. He teaches them the basics of pitching ideas to executives, writing engaging scripts, producing scripts affordably and responsibly, and how to manage a staff of writers, crew, and actors.
Taboo (Jimmy Gomez), The multi-talented Jimmy Gomez, also known to his band mates and fans as “Taboo” is not just a member of the global chart topping sensation, The Black Eyed Peas, but also an accomplished dancer, actor and author.
Born in East Los Angeles, Taboo followed his dream of being an entertainer and rose from humble beginnings to unimaginable success.
Having sold over 65 million records worldwide, the Grammy-award winner has brought his enigmatic fusion of pop, hip — hop and dance music to a huge global audience. Not only is Taboo a driving force behind BEP’s return to the spotlight in 2018, he has also focused his attention towards his humanitarian goals.
A cancer survivor since 2015, Taboo is committed to healthy living and fitness, including working out daily, dancing, and playing sports with his kids.
In May 2016, Taboo became a global ambassador for the ACS and joined the board of The Joe Biden Cancer Initiative in 2017. Taboo is now focused on using his voice to inspire people to live healthy, be preventative and focus on mental health.
