You can make a LOT of money on cam sites — believe me, I know. When I first started camming, though, I didn’t know which cam sites were best, so I wasted a lot of time on some that had almost no traffic and otherwise sucked completely.
I know that starting out can be a real struggle when you don’t even know where to plant your cam girl flag, so I wanted to provide my educated and experienced opinion as a webcam model for those of you who need some help in this department.
Please note: You’re not going to hear this much, but the truth is that MOST cam sites are simply not worth streaming on. Why? So, when I got started in camming, I spent (wasted) a lot of time on one particular webcam site whose name will not be mentioned. I might as well have been doing my nails for the hours I spent streaming there, it was completely dead.
After my first couple of weeks as a cam girl, I began to seriously doubt myself, and I had a very strong urge to just quit and go back to stripping. Well, I’m glad I didn’t make that decision, because it turned out all I needed to do was find the right cam site.

Why Certain Cam Sites Are The Best To Make Money On
So, for a cam site to be worth your time as a webcam model, it needs to have a few basic things going for it.
- Large amount of traffic from “Tier 1” countries (US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and most of Western Europe).
- Be designed as a “free cams” platform where public shows and tipping are allowed.
- Have rules that allow promotion of your OnlyFans and social media accounts (or at least be known for being lenient about it).

Traffic Realities of Cam Sites
The biggest factor you need to look for is honestly traffic amount and quality. Making money on a cam site that has little traffic is obviously impossible, but some cam sites actually do have big traffic numbers and are, nevertheless, TOTALLY WORTHLESS as moneymakers.
The problem is, many cam sites that have good numbers traffic-wise get their traffic from porn tubes. Surfers on porn tubes tend to be interested in only one thing — FREE SHIT. That means that when they watch you stream, they expect you to do everything for free. Umm, no.
The other issue with traffic on cam sites is that it’s often from poorer countries, where guys unfortunately don’t have anywhere near as much money to spend. That’s why it’s important that the traffic be “Tier 1,” which basically means it’s from wealthy countries.
Free Cams Style Always Wins Out
Some cam sites are “private-show-based,” which means they don’t allow public shows or nudity in the public chat. This used to be the standard cam site style, until the “free cams” platforms emerged about 15 or so years ago.
On a free cams webcam site, you can actually do shows in public and be naked on cam without a problem. This is HUGE because it allows you to draw viewers into your room quickly.
The other thing that free cams platforms allow you to do is get tipped. Tipping is the main revenue source in camming these days, and some whale members will tip hundreds or thousands of dollars at a time!
Whales tend to prefer the free cams platforms because they love to show off by tipping models massively, so it makes sense. This is one of the major reasons why the best cam sites to make money on are usually free cams style.
Promoting OnlyFans on a Cam Site
It also helps a lot when your cam site allows you to promote your OnlyFans because you can actually significantly boost the amount of money you make off each regular by getting them to subscribe.
OnlyFans is a “fan club” platform that was designed to maximize the monetization of adult fans. The various features on the site allow you to sell content, for example, at rates that you would find next to impossible to swing anywhere else.
A lot of cam sites don’t allow the promotion of OnlyFans at all, because they see it as competition. This is a MAJOR red flag. Please, don’t even bother with a cam site if they won’t allow you to plug your OF.

The Best Cam Sites Have Tons of WHALES
Like I mentioned above, big spenders are what you need if you’re going to make over $20,000 per month camming. Whales can be found in significant numbers only on two specific cam sites, which I will be covering shortly.
Whales love to show off publicly with their massive tips, so they LOVE free cams platforms.
When you successfully attract a whale on a cam site, you need to then get him to subscribe to your OnlyFans, where it’s much easier to induce spending. THIS is the way those huge income numbers you hear about happen, I’m not even lying.

Why Chaturbate and MyFreeCams are The Top Cam Sites
If you want to make money on a webcam site, there are only two options I would recommend. In all my experience as a cam girl, Chaturbate and MyFreeCams have proven to be, by far, the best cam sites for making money.
Both of these cam sites are the “free cams” type, which is extremely important in terms of acquiring high-quality, big spender regulars. Yeah, I know it seems counterintuitive, but trust me on this. Whales LOVE free cams sites, as I pointed out above.
The traffic quality factor is really huge too, and both MFC and Chaturbate pass on that score with flying colors. Chaturbate is consistently ranked as one of the top sites for North American (Tier 1) traffic, and MyFreeCams has a smaller, but very Tier 1 traffic base that is known to be great for money making.
The traffic quality on Chaturbate and MyFreeCams is well-known to be prime for money-making, due to the fact that it’s from mostly Tier 1 countries.
Now, something to keep in mind is that MyFreeCams uses the “camscore” system to rank the rooms of its webcam models on its main list. Camscore is calculated essentially based on how much a cam girl gets tipped. The more tips, the higher she ranks on the list.
This means that new cam girls on MFC can be very disadvantaged because they usually don’t debut on the site with lots of tippers ready to blast up their camscore. Obviously, when you’re new, it’s going to be a lot harder to convince viewers to tip.
What this usually results in is new models sinking to the lowest levels of the main list, which dramatically reduces the number of viewers flowing into your room to check you out.
This is why I recommend not starting your camming career on MyFreeCams, but instead working the site after you’ve built up some experience and some devoted regulars who can support you with those early tips that are so important for establishing your camscore.
Bear in mind that MFC only accepts female cam models. If you’re a male or trans model, you can broadcast at Chaturbate.
Starting on Chaturbate makes far more sense, because there is no camscore there and it’s generally much easier for new models to get established. Chaturbate is also known as a haven for whales, so it’s really a no-brainer.

The good news is that, as an experienced cam girl who has been through that initiation stage, I can tell you that the chances of you making great money on cam are very good if you just stick with it.
You’ll be tempted to quit in the early going because not getting tipped is soul-draining, but you need to push through it. Every new cam model goes through that, it’s perfectly normal. People won’t tip until they bond with you, and that takes some time.
Just be sure to keep camming, go on around the same time of day every time, and stay engaged. After several sessions, you’ll see the tipping pick up, trust me. And you just might snag yourself a whale, if you’re lucky!
