I agree, the quickest and most humane solution to end the war is for Assad to step down and the Syrians to form a unity government, sharing power with the non-Daesh rebel factions. This will quickly allow a united front to crush Daesh, bringing the war to a speedy close. Good thinking! I would assume Assad goes peacefully into exile in Iran. That is, assuming Assad and his supporters care deeply about the lives of the Syrian people and ending the war!
