Perhaps something people don’t realise is that Syrians are fundamentally nice people. (Not just Syrians, but they loom large in this problem.) During the summer here in New Westminster, Canada, my wife would take our daughter (just under a year and a half) to a local park. Syrian refugee families from across Vancouver would meet up there. She loved to let our daughter play with their children as they were very fair and well-behaved. Despite the other children being older and therefore bigger, whenever the younger ones would push her around the older ones would police them, make sure she was ok.
