I never backpacked across Europe either, although I wanted to. Starting to make up for it now that I’m older by traveling as much as my budget allows me to. Anyway, I do believe Europe is a good thing, but a tricky thing to balance with so many differences among its residents, cultures and economic state. Every European citizen born and raised in one place is a patriot when it comes to the country they live in, not to Europe. The many different languages could be seen as a richness, but don’t help with literally understanding each other and forming a sense of European unity.
