Kick flares for all shapes….
Kick flare jeans can be universally flattering on all body shapes, you just have to know a few sneaky secrets to find your perfect style.
There is 3 major things to consider when shopping for kick flare jeans:
- Your body proportions- picking the right jean to flatter your shape is essential. This all depends on how you are proportioned. i.e. Are your shoulders wider then your hips? Are they evenly proportioned? Basically, we want to highlight your smallest point and even your body proportions out.
- The rise of the jeans (low, mid, high). Depending on where your smallest point is will depend on which point the rise will flatter. If you’re waist is your smallest point and is quite high above your tummy then high rise is best. If your hips are even or smaller than your waist then low rise are best.
- The width and length of the flare/bootcut- Depending on how curvy you are will depend on the size of the flare.
Once you get this right you will be buying them in every colour you can find.
Here is an over view of body shapes so you can identify yours if you don’t already know.
Hourglass and Triangle (Pear)
Women who carry their weight mostly in their hips, thighs, and rear look amazing in wider flares or bell-bottoms. Look for fits that are form-fitting in the butt, thighs and all the way down to the middle of your knees. Also aim for a bigger bell that flares out and almost covers your shoes. This will create an hourglass shape as well as smooth and elongate your legs.
If you’re a Triangle shape look out for mid rise waist lines and if you’re an hourglass go for mid to high rise to emphasise your smallest point, your waist.
Mid and high rise jeans are great for pulling in your tummy too.
Faded jeans look very trendy but block colour are always more flattering.
Personally I am an hourglass and carry more around my bum and thighs, I found it difficult to buy jeans for a long time until I knew the above.
If you shop about you can sometimes get jeans to suit in high street stores but the above brands always have something to suit.
Inverted Triangle, rectangle and apple shapes.
As these 2 shapes are more narrow in the hip area it’s best to keep your flare to a bootcut to avoid being overpowered by the bell flare.
A low rise boot cut jean is very flattering for inverted Triangle and rectangle shapes. I recommend trying a tight and loose fit in this style. Faded denim looks good on you too.
If you are an apple shape a low to mid rise can be very flattering if you want to conceal your tummy too.
It should be a lot easier for you to find your jeans style on the high street but here are a few I recommend investing in below.
Last things to remember now is if you are petite, regular or tall when shopping.
Many good jeans designers supply a variation of leg lengths to suit.
Many stores do petite to tall too even on the high street like Topshop.
I hope this has been helpful.
