Promote Diversity, Grow your Co.
When colleagues ask me about building diverse teams in their companies I typically share this story from the Harvard Business Review. It leads with the numbers from McKinsey showing companies with greater gender and ethnic diversity in management do better financially. A clear and persuasive way to start the convo.
Next time they ask I’m going to include this smart little post from Steve Frost and Danny Kalman, because their ideas for taking action are just as clear and easy to implement. Kalman and Frost focus on inclusive management, and the five actions they present “avoid tailored approaches based only on stereotype.” Wonderful.
How can you elevate the brilliant and inspiring introverts? Are you ranking candidates blind to avoid name association bias? This quick read makes it easy for organizations to do something now (and do better financially down the road.)
The authors pulled these nuggets from their book Inclusive Talent Management: How Business can Thrive in an Age of Diversity. It’s worth a look. And big thanks to Ellen McGirt Race Ahead for the find.
