6 things that kept me off the streets this weekend

boy, the streets were calling to me this weekend, but somehow i resisted. the following things helped keep me indoors.

“Come Around Again” by Carly Simon

Carly Simon is best known for her hit “You’re So Vain,” which is actually about her dog. this gentle hit from 1986 was written for her dog’s new girlfriend.

My new friend John.

typically kids say to me, “look at that freak with pink hair!” but not John. John at least hung out with me first.

“Lust for Life” by Iggy Pop

one of the strange things about Iggy Pop is that we’ve never seen him crying. so i made this moving image to show his human side.

“The 39 Steps” by Alfred Hitchcock

spy movies are usually pretty terrible: just look at Agent Cody Banks and SpyKids. but Alfred Hitchcock knew what he was doing when he made this one. he even decided to film it in black and white to make it look “cool.”

“Ruthless People” by Zucker/Abrams

this is probably my new favorite movie. Danny DeVito is basically a cartoon character.

Savina Delvina’s Greatest Hits

i remember Savina, her music has meant so much to me. she never responded to that generous gift i sent her, even though the instructions were to take half and send the rest back. oh well.
