I got quite a bit done this weekend but there’s a lot I didn’t get to, also.
Friday morning I bought Regina Spektor tickets, $102 for mine (the $2 was for the privilege of printing the tickets myself) and I took my dad to the doctor. This was just his annual check up with his primary physician and we saw the third interim doctor in as many years. Gotta love the VA. This one was a nurse practitioner who had started last week and hadn’t been beaten down by the system yet. She was optimistic and helpful and we’ll probably never see her again. She did confirm that dad is in excellent health except for his rapidly deteriorating lungs. We picked up a late lunch on the way home and I just hung out at the house with dad for a few hours.
Saturday I got out early and ran some errands. I picked up my duvet, $38, and used a gift card for an iced coffee at Starbucks. I spent $88 at Target and managed to get everything on my list except a Brita pitcher because it was $10 more in the store than on their website. I ordered it from Amazon instead and used part of my birthday gift card balance.
I met my sister and nephew at the animal shelter. They had a record number of animals, mostly cats, and were waiving adoption fees as an ‘empty the shelter’ drive. I got there ten minutes before they opened and my sister was already in line. Almost two hours later we were in. Fortunately they had shade tents and lots of water available. My nephew looked at all the cats and picked out a tiny black kitten he was going to name Bruce Wayne until he realized it was a girl. She is now called Black Panther. He also picked a kitten from the same litter for his sister who’s visiting their grandparents. That kitten will remain unnamed until she gets home.
After our shelter adventure I dropped my car off at my parents and my mom and I headed out to see Grandma. We took her shopping and to dinner. It was a nice afternoon but I was exhausted from the heat. When we got home mom and I took our cars to get gas since she had a discount.
Sunday Thor got me up early. I guess he wasn’t happy I was gone for big chunks of Friday and Saturday. We went for a long walk and then I went back to bed for a few hours. When I got up again I spent the day reading and working on some homework. I also checked the humane society website and they were down to six cats.
I spent $228 of a $300 estimate. I still need to do laundry and cleaning and I didn’t get my nails done.
