I was going to question number six with the thought that what if your parents’ professional network doesn’t overlap with your career path.

My mom was a special ed school aide, a pastor, and now manages a group home. Until last summer I was an investment analyst for a financial planning firm. Not a lot of overlap in those networks. Then I remembered that I got the job as an admin with that firm ten years ago because my mom knew the office manager. So I guess parents’ social network can help too.
