Is Mathematics a Philosophical Endeavor?

What a wonderful question. One which I believe could also be asked about knowledge itself.

To me there is no doubt that mathematics is created for two very unrelated reasons.

First. Because I don’t believe in a creator which means that in my world nothing that we “find” could have existed before.

Second. Because there is an infinite amount of numbers between 0.0000001 and 0.0000002 and the only reason why we talk about those numbers is because we are reducing reality into fragments. Without reduction of reality, without our limited perspective on it there is no clear dividers between things. No quanta, no locality.

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
