Dear Imperfect Friend,
You may not fit society’s beauty standards or ideals.
Your taste and interests may be far from what’s considered “normal”
What you expect from yourself, may be different from what others do.
You may find beauty in things others can’t see,
And pleasure in ways others can’t feel.
Maybe labels can’t define you,
And no description fits ALL of who you are.
If you’re listening
I’d like to encourage you to ask yourself:
What would you do if you weren’t afraid of disappointing others?
Do you accept the challenge?
To find happiness within your authenticity,
To be ok by being who you are
Not expecting the world would like it.
What tha hell is happiness anyways? Only you can define it.
I dream of a world where minorities don’t exist,
Because we all dare to be different from each other.
And of course, tolerate those who are different from us.
Because simply, we cannot belong and be authentic at the same time
And only those who are willing to sacrifice the need to belong
Will differentiate themselves from the rest.
This goes for style, ideals, choices, attitude and everything in between.
Belonging is killing authenticity
in times when authenticity is the most valuable asset you could have.
So my imperfect friend,
Allow yourself to be defined not by the things that make you normal
But by the ones that make you stand out.
Choose to be real
Choose to be you
And that, will be more than enough.
