In order to simplify the ICON testnet ecosystem and reduce unnecessary maintenance workload, Hannam TestNet (ICON 1.0) and Gangnam TestNet (ICON 2.0) will be closed down, effective July 6th.
Current users of Hannam TestNet and Gangnam TestNet can migrate to the Yeouido TestNet (ICON 1.0) and Sejong TestNet (ICON 2.0), respectively. The Sejong TestNet also supports both Python and Java SCOREs testing.
For further technical details on the Yeouido and Sejong TestNets, refer to icondev documentation here: https://www.icondev.io/docs/testnet

BTP Progress Update and ICON 2.0 Migration
This month, core developers continued to make great progress on the migration of ICON 1.0 to ICON 2.0 and we’re hopeful for a successful launch in the coming months. Check out this tweet thread for a detailed update on the progress and process we are undertaking. Additionally, development teams continue their BTP work for the Polkadot ecosystem as well as several other chains/ecosystems yet to be announced. More details to follow shortly.
Finally, we’ve added several new hires to the team in recent weeks and are planning to add more over…
ICON 2.0 Alpha Testnet Released and BTP Working Group
The team continues to progress on the ICON 2.0 migration and expanding the BTP working group. Highlighting this month’s activity was the launch of the Alpha Testnet which includes features of our new ICON 2.0 network. Additionally, we provided more details around how BTP will be integrated into other networks. Stay tuned for more announcements on that front very soon!
We launched the testnet which is run by the alpha version of the ICON 2.0 implementation. To fully test this implementation publicly, everyone can see and experience ICON 2.0…
Sejong Testnet Launched with ICON 2.0 Features
We’re proud to announce that the alpha version of the ICON 2.0 implementation has been successfully released today. To fully test this implementation publicly, we launched a new testnet, Sejong, for the community so that everyone can see and experience ICON 2.0 through ICONex and ICON Tracker for Sejong.
Network information below:
Sejong is a testnet for testing core technologies, including IISS 3.1 features, Bonding features, P-Rep Slashing features, and such. This testnet will continue to be upgraded as new updates are released and could…
As the first update from the Blockchain Transmission Protocol (BTP) Working Group, we are excited to announce tangible progress toward the integration of BTP into the Polkadot Ecosystem. Acala, Moonbeam, Edgeware, and Plasm, four of the top parachain candidates in the Polkadot Ecosystem, will be the first to be integrated into ICON’s BTP interoperability solution.
Acala brings a robust, EVM-compatible Polkadot DeFi ecosystem, Moonbeam brings unmatched Ethereum compatibility and the largest and most robust portfolio of live integrations across the DeFi, NFT, and gaming spaces, Edgeware brings decentralized community governance, and Plasm brings a DApp hub and layer 2 solutions…
BTP Working Group, Hotfix, Hannam Testnet and ICON 2.0 Alphanet
It was yet another busy month of development for our growing ecosystem. Highlighting this month’s activity was the creation of the BTP working group (ICON’s interoperability solution) and the outline for the expansion of BTP’s solution across many blockchain networks. Additionally, we provided details around the BTP architecture, and how it differs, and frankly improves upon existing solutions in the market today. Outside of this, we continued to make significant progress on ICON 2.0, and other initiatives. Please see below for more details.
As mentioned above, we announced…
We are excited to share the latest technology advancements and details around the Blockchain Transmission Protocol (BTP), ICON’s interoperability solution, with our community. This post covers the technical architecture, economic structure and key differentiators of BTP. Polkadot parachains will be used as an example throughout the post.
We are excited to announce the creation of the Blockchain Transmission Protocol (BTP) Working Group, a team of ICON core members along with a growing set of 3rd party developer groups. The BTP Working Group’s sole purpose is to fulfill ICON’s ultimate vision of becoming a blockchain of blockchains — an elegant web of interconnected networks aggregating all blockchain data into one layer. ICON is not just a blockchain, but an Aggregator Chain.
Over the coming months, we will be sharing the progress and growth of the BTP Working Group. We currently have three third-party developer groups (Edgeware, ICON DAO…
This post is in response to an article published today by Paxnet News. We want to make it clear that the ICON Foundation is not under investigation by the Korean National Tax Service authorities. The ICON Foundation is regulated by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA). We have worked diligently with our accountant(Lucris), auditor(Grant Thornton), and tax attorney(MME) to meet all financial and regulatory requirements.
As mentioned in the article and as many of our community members are already aware, ICONLOOP is operated independently from the ICON Foundation. ICONLOOP is an important technical partner for the ICON…
