I went through my old stuff from high school today. I flipped through pictures of me and my friends, old academic awards and placed them back in my box of memories. Just as I packed everything up, something small fell on the bed.

8/18/2006. An old AMC movie stub for 'Accepted.'

You know, the movie about the fake college and the cute dorky kid, Justin Long and it had Blake Lively and Jonah Hill and ask me about my wiener... Yeah, that movie.

That was our first date, well.. Our first group hang out. I can still remember that day. It was with my senior friends that just graduated. He invited me to watch with them because he got his first paycheck from work. He picked me up from my house and all of our guy friends were squished in the backseat so I would have to sit in the front. It was too obvious that it was a setup.

We got to the theater and got our tickets. 'Accepted.’ I thanked him for treating me and he just smiled. We got our seats and he sat next to me. Our friend that introduced us sat on the opposite side of me. I was nervous but he told me to chill. They got up and went to the concession stand. He bought me soda and some nachos. I started stress eating because I was nervous. I was a freshly new Sophomore in high school and he was a Freshmen in College. It was a bit nerve wrecking. He glanced over at me and whispered that I didn’t have to finish them if I didn’t want it. I told him that it was ok because I was hungry. He smiled and continued to watch the movie. When it was over, we all went to eat at Red Robin and he bought my food. Everyone just whispered and smiled at us. I was clueless, but should have known it was a setup.

I remember he dropped me off last. All the guys told us to have a good rest of our day. It was weird. We got to my house and no one was home. He asked me if he could walk me to my door, but I declined and let him know I was ok. I thanked him for everything. He smiled. I got out of his car and he watched me walk away. I waved goodbye from my door and he drove away. As soon as I got through the door, I ran over to my computer and logged into AIM. I waited, and waited and checked my Myspace. I was about to give up and sign out when I heard a notification tone.

B*****p****13: Thanks for hanging out today. Hope you had fun. We should hang out again. :]

Crazy how one little thing can make you remember so much…
