Google Project Management Course for Web Developers

3 min readJan 31, 2023

As an aspiring full-stack developer, you are expected to wear many hats and be responsible for all aspects of a project, from conceptualization to coding to testing and deployment. While technical skills are essential, project management skills are equally important for project success. This is where Google Project Management Course can help.

A bit of context on what I do, call me Jhonas, an aspiring full-stack developer. As of this writing, I am nearing the end of a coding Bootcamp and have some UX design and project management knowledge from Coursera’s Google Professional Certification Courses. And in this section, I’ll explain how I used my newly acquired skills and knowledge in a real-world project for our coding Bootcamp capstone.

Now, let’s discuss the actual application. We are expected to deliver a full-stack web application for our capstone as a final project requirement to showcase skills from our web dev Bootcamp in the months of January and February 2023.

At the start of the project, I followed the project management process outlined in Google’s Project Management Course.

Project Initiation, in which I, as the Project Lead, proposed and received approval for our Capstone Project concept using a Project Charter. Then comes the Project Planning phase, where my team members and I had a few meetings to discuss more about the project details, from what features to do and who is responsible for what task, to sharing ideas and planning the UI.

Following that, we do hands-on coding, and as the project lead, I also provided UX design in Figma using my skills from Google’s UX Design Course around the second and third weeks of our project. It served as the foundation for our project’s user interface. As we progress through this project, design iteration occurs, and many things do not go as planned, but we strive to complete this project. As we work to complete the current project, Google’s Project Management Course has come in handy.

So far, my Project Management skills have aided me in keeping things organized in our Capstone Project, in task management, in further improving my communication skills with my team members, in managing risk, such as scope creep, and in remaining confident and grounded despite the overwhelming coding’s to do, concepts to learn in the Bootcamp while delivering our capstone project.

In general, Google’s project management course is an essential skill for any full-stack web developer. It provides a thorough understanding of project management principles and practices, and I can see how it differs from my previous projects. It assists web developers in becoming more efficient, effective, and confident in their work. As an aspiring full-stack web developer, I strongly recommend it to anyone looking to advance their career.

Acknowledgment: I’d like to thank Globe Telecom for sponsoring my education in Google’s Project Management and Google’s UX Design Courses on Coursera. Furthermore, I would like to thank KodeGo and my instructor, Sir Erwin Macaraig, for teaching us the skills required to be a full-stack developer. All of the knowledge and skills I’ve gained are extremely beneficial to me as a tech enthusiast and aspiring Fullstack developer.
