Dear Enterprise — please give your devs real computers

Dear Enterprise,

Please stop giving your developers potato PCs with no processing power, no admin rights and far too much Windows. We’re kind of good at this whole computer stuff. We know more than your IT department. Not being cocky here, it’s just… isn’t that why you hired us?

It’s like hiring a team of chefs and not entrusting them with any knives so they wouldn’t cut themselves. You’d think chefs are pretty decent at this whole chopping, cutting, filleting malarkey, but no. It’s the rules. The waiting staff aren’t allowed any knives and neither are you. No, we can’t make an exception for the chefs either. It’s just easier to have the same rules for everyone. Can you go now and fillet this fish for me. Here’s a spoon and some chopsticks. Sigh.
