Remote Strategist Check-In: Nashville

Part 3 of 5: Postcards from a Southern Road Trip

The Soundtrack of America #MadeinTN

The Parthenon

This is a full-scale replica of the Parthenon in Athens, leftover from the 1897 Tennessee state fair. Because, why not?

AirBnB: Sylvan Park Sanctuary

A sweet older husband and wife team run this AirBnB and it shows. There were handwritten sticky notes all over the apartment with thoughtful suggestions, like post-it notes from your mom. They forgot I was on a group text message with them when one texted: “i love you mr wonderful ;)”

Hattie B’s Nashville Hot Chicken.

So nice, we ate there twice. There’s a diabetes center across the street. Also: the gentrification of fried chicken has been on my mind. Yes, it’s a thing: the new urban fried chicken crisis. 🐔✊

The view across the street from Hattie B’s. 😒

Music City

Barely scratched the surface, but I’m hooked on a sound.

… but T-Swift?!

The Hatch Show Print

The industrial guts of arts and letters. Music poster printer and American Letterpress since 1879.

Side Trip: Franklin, Tennessee

The Loveless

“Loveless until you reached it.” — JLG

“hot biscuits indeed!!” — SLR

Stay tuned for Part 4: Smoky Mountain Treehouse

Slow Travel has been on my bucket list since I left the corporate ad agency world. This series chronicles 5 stopover cities on my Deep South tour, April 2017.
