After an intense day of lettering’s workshop at the Type Director Club, we had the pleasure to visit one of the most prestigious design studio: Pentagram. World’s largest independently-owned design studio and five decades of noteworthy work, Pentagram is unique by its structure and its know how. They work in London, New York, San Francisco, Berlin and Austin and their design know no boundaries.

Located now in New York on the 250 Park Avenue, we were welcomed by Luke Hayman and Margaux Saulou. Luke Hayman is Creative Director and one of the 23 Pentagram’s Partners. Margaux Saulou was familiar to our teachers. Indeed, she is an ECV Paris Alumni, graduated in 2017. Like us, she did a school trip in New York, met Pentagram’s team and after an internship she got the job!

Office entrance is a kind of reception and lunch spaces, really warm and immersive with framed posters on all the walls. We sat nearby in the meeting room. It seemed to be a long day for Luke Hayman too but he was very generous in his presentation. Indeed, during one hour, he introduced us properly the studio, its work process and last works from his team. We were allowed to question him and in the end, with Roxane Daghigh, we interviewed him on his professional path and his personal vision of design .

We visit the floor below with all the teams and he offered us pretty books with last Pentagram works. It was quite unexpected — we were thrilled. It was our first office visit of the week and we were already full of passion. This high view on New York in one of the best studio in the world was really inspiring and opened new perspectives on our careers.
