Yes, white henna tattoos or body art are very much in vogue. Social platforms and other blogs are sharing stuff related to white glittering tattoo (as some called this concept as white henna). There is no henna in nature which shows final output in white color. To get more info you can read my previous post “What is White Henna

Nature has given only one type of henna and it shows only brown or orange tint or something between these two hues, based on type of henna leaves powder. It means one thing should be very clear that there is no white henna naturally available, there is some synthetic chemical which are used to make white designs, but they may not be as safe as age old and time tested henna tattoos; which have stood the test of time.

The leaves of henna plant contain a natural red dye that colors hair, fingernails and skin and other body parts. White henna is therefore not true henna, as true henna comes in only one color. Following materials are generally employed for making white tattoos.

White Henna Tattoo vs Natural Henna Tattoo

White Henna contains chemicals like:

  • Chlorine bleach, hair bleach, skin bleaching items or any other similar stuff.
  • Acrylic paint, tempera paint or any other paint from the cosmetic store that is meant for painting canvases or houses but surely not people.
  • Nail polish sort of stuff.

Side Effects of White Henna

If you are also interested in safe, temporary henna-like beautiful artwork then always go only for natural henna tattoo designs and not for other synthetic stuff as mentioned above. Henna tattoo are always safe as far as it is designed from natural henna. It is again important to mention here that in market there is concept of black henna, which is again a misleading concept because black henna is again a synthetic concept and not the natural. I suggest you to always go for pure henna powder.
