“Suicide”, its unseen face (Part-2)
Society plays a major role in the life of every single person. We can’t neglect society easily. The expectation wave from society has been following us till the death. So, for this reason, we think a lot about society. In particular, after facing a failure or problem, our mind starts to think about society. When that person becomes unable to answer the questions from society regarding that failure or problems, he or she attempts suicide as their final solution. At this moment, I want to register my opinion here. If a person doesn’t make any mistakes in his/her life, then he/she is not a human being. The easier it is to criticize or comment, the harder it is to live up to the occasion. The player’s pain is unknown to the audience.
No matter who says money is not important for life, one’s life without money is impossible. That’s the reality. That’s why each of us is running for money. In this case, we have to think about the lives of ordinary people. Most ordinary families have different types of loans in order to fulfill their basic needs. In a few cases, due to the lack of earning, they are pushed out to a situation of struggling to pay their loan payments. In such cases, some of them take the decision to attempt suicide. Purchasing an own vehicle is a dream for everyone, but completing a ready cash purchase is impossible for many ordinary families. So, in such cases, the only choice is purchasing them through leasing companies. This situation also plays the same game in the lives of few. Great lost in business, lost in share market investment etc. are also some other financial pressures that lead to suicide of someone. According to the stats of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), all over the world, approximately 269 million people use drugs. Most drug dealers target youngsters and offer them drugs free of charge for the first time to make them addicted. After that time, they demand more money for that. So, if that person becomes unable to take that, he/she commits suicide.
During this twenty first century, the usage of drugs also increased to a huge level than in the twentieth century. Simply, we can say the twenty first century as the era of addiction because most of those living in this current era have been addicted to any one thing in this world. That may be drugs, social media, cinema, video games, fast-food etc. But among these things, the severe threat to the welfare of this world is drugs. Generally, when we hear the word drugs, we think about heroin, cocaine, ayahuasca, DMT etc., but alcohol, tobacco, cigarettes are also particular types of drugs.
Approximately 3.96 billion people all over the world use social media in 2021. Particularly after the start of the corona virus spreading, due to curfew and travel restrictions, the usage of social media further increased. When one person uses social media continuously for a long time, his/her stress level increases. Along with that, the unknown contacts formed through social media are also the main factor mostly for the suicide of girls. Similarly, the attraction of youngsters towards cinema also plays a great role in the happening of suicides.
Now, I want to touch the most sensible factor which is the reason for a lot of suicide incidents, mostly in countries where cultural limitations are followed strictly, like South Asian countries. Immature relationships, this is that key factor. In countries like India and Bangladesh, the minimum legal age for getting married is 21 for boys and 18 for girls. Countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Canada and most European countries fixed 18 years as the minimum legal age to get married for both. I want to ask two questions here. “Does everyone get a mature mindset before this age limit?” “Does every youngster get a relationship after this age?” I hope the most probable answer to both questions is “No”. When one person gets into a relationship before getting a mature mindset, the decisions taken by him/her will not be completely correct. Everyone has one life. So, if we don’t make the right decisions, we will lose that precious life. In particular, many girls commit suicide due to those relationships.
After discussing all these factors now, some questions raise in my mind. Who is the responsible one for that? Is the person who commits suicide? Is his/her family? Is society? Is it the media? Is it the government? We all should take responsibility for that because each of us is responsible for it in some way. Parents with a comparing attitude, the media for profit only, a society that is content to criticize others and government activities that are carried out in a way that doesn’t understand the feelings and ability of the public, everything is responsible for suicide. Only when we accept the mistakes we make do we have space to correct ourselves.
We are able to notice one thing. After the development of this technological era, the count of suicide suddenly increased. But, for that, we can’t completely blame technology because, as I say in my most articles, a coin has two sides which are completely opposite to each other, like that everything in this world has two sides. We can define them as positive side and negative side. As like that, technology is not an exception to that. But, for that, we can’t neglect them because technology is helpful to us in a lot of ways. We have to survive with that. A human is a marvelous creature of Mother Nature. We have a very superior organ called, “Brain”. With the help of that, we have the ability to differentiate the two sides of technology. So, my kind request is “Human lifetime is very short. Within that, don’t waste this excellent creature of mother nature”.
