OF A JACKASS IN THE WHITE HOUSE AND THE BONDS OF CITIZENSHIP

I don’t know about this psychologist’s reasoning as to why Trump’s supporters are sticking by him. My view is that they are not really his supporters at all, but more like jokesters, despairing but keeping a sense of humor. I recall an incident involving impoverished peasants in southern Mexico. Continually victimized and oppressed by drug cartels on the one hand and the Mexican government on the other, they sent a horse into the legislative chamber when it was time to vote. (Really…there were photos of it.) The same with so-called Trump supporters: They sent a jackass into the White House, and they knew what they were doing. I for one appreciate their honesty, while of course remaining apprehensive about the behavior and effects of the jackass. Although I can’t say I identify with the so-called Trump supporters culturally as much as I am told about them mainly through the media (admittedly a questionable source), as one who appreciates honesty above all else (in practically every case), I therefore know I have some affinity with them.
