Have you ever tried it?

In the beginning, you only do it for the results and it is a very mentally consuming activity. Either you aren’t a confident drawer or you rarely draw the same line twice; whatever the reason is, that’s why we call it a “beginning”.

Being good at sketching is accessible to all. It’s one of those “practice makes perfect” skills.

It’s a great way to become a better artist. In other words, sketching boosts your potential in art significantly.

Note that in order to learn most basics in drawing, especially in perspectives and proportions, sketching should be the right path for you. The learning curve is quite steep because it pulls you out of your confort zone. You are forced to make approximative lines but by layering them, an average of those lines is created and the drawing becomes much more proportional.

The hole point is for you to portray the essential parts of the sketch like the emotions and lighting instead of details like some unimportant backround decoration, except if that is truly important to you. It helps you avoid perfectionism and be much more effective too.

A sense of perspective naturally develops in you as well as proportion and shading. Those are in some way the fundamentals of most drawing “styles” that are inspired by reality, basically of…
