NAFTA didn’t change their lives. Most of the factory jobs that did go due to NAFTA would have gone to Asia or simply disappoeared due to more mechanization. The Front Row didn’t kill the Mom and Pop stores; the back row did by shopping at Walmart. They did that because it made their lives better, because they could spend their savings on other stuff they needed or wanted.

Tribalism might well be the reason for the divide, but the economic agruements don’t wash. The frustrations, perhaps do; but blind anger can’t be a satisfying answer.
