Geovanni is 62 years old.
Geovanni always greets me with a
“Cómo va todo eso, mi Rey” (“How’s everything, my king” — fancier btw)
Geovanni is Cuban by heart, but he swore to the American flag.
Geovanni came to the United States @ the age of 42.
Geovanni is probably the second person that I interact with on a daily basis.
And Geovanni is not only the ‘guy from the garage’.
After the ‘Cuban espresso’ became part of my system, we had an interesting conversation:
{people that know me have mixed feelings towards this question}
¿What would you tell to your 24 years old self, if Elon Musk comes with the time machine today and lets you use it in exchange for this colada?
Look — points with his smoky finger to the skyscrapers — . To me, those are just pretty buildings, or “Houses”. For some people those are “Home”. To me, “Home” is my nation. My Cuba. America is my “House”. I live but I don’t enjoy. I missed my Cuba for so many years that I can say that I lost part of my time.
I’m grateful to the United States for my house, my job, and my car; but those things don’t fit a coffin.
I would tell myself: make this world your “Home”, surround yourself with your loved ones, and
STAY TRUE TO YOUR VALUES.
~ & he served one more cup of that hot elixir…
Thank you again.
