Dear Democrats, Read This If You Do Not Understand Why Trump Won
Trent Lapinski

This article is little more than cleverly-disguised whitewash. It is amazing for its utter silence on the outsized role of race in this election. Where does the fact that the president-elect’s campaign began with and was continually fueled by racial and xenophobic attacks, stoking racial grievances, and manipulating racial fear and anxiety figure in the post-mortem of why he won? If this article is to be taken seriously (as I assumed the author intended), race was not a factor — as it did not make his list of reasons. Give me a break. This candidate won for one simple reason: he successfully manipulated real, but previously latent racial fear and anxiety to mobilize enough people to secure an electoral college victory. Period. Let’s not muddle the simple truth with contrived explanations that do little more than distract from the real issues this nation faces.
