I cannot really attest as to what game schools emphasize simply because I have never studied in one. But this might be the case, depending on how the educational process is organized. Great many people claim that they have learned a lot about teamwork and creativity while studying in the university even if their main occupation right now isn’t related to their formal education. You get used to meeting new people and achieving common goals with your fellow students. But as I said, I don’t think it’s necessary and it’s the only way to foster and practice such skills.
I trust that an experienced hirer / interviewer can (and probably should) tell if you’re an open person ready to explore new ways or more of a conservative sort — I suppose it becomes transparent during the interview. Actually, now that you asked about it, I recall that I was indeed asked a couple of seemingly simple questions during the interview that were to check my creative thinking.
