A Day at Globe Life Field

This past week, I had the pleasure of taking my boys to Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers. It was a day filled with excitement and lasting memories, even though the Rangers didn't clinch a victory this time. The experience was unforgettable, particularly because it was shared with my sons.

Our adventure began with an early pregame tour of the stadium. As someone who's had the privilege of experiencing the old Rangers stadiums, there was a sense of nostalgia in comparing the past with the present. I've seen these changes firsthand, from childhood memories to now, as a father passing down the tradition.

While the $50 pregame tour offered a good overview of the stadium, I found myself wishing for a bit more access—perhaps the freedom to explore on our own or slightly better seats during the tour. However, it did provide us with some helpful guidance, like locating the elevators and getting a feel for the layout of the stadium.

After the tour, we dove into the fun activities available at the stadium. The boys, full of competitive energy, enjoyed the pitching machine, each taking turns trying to outdo the others. It was thrilling to watch them excel, even if just for a moment. We decided to skip the batting cages this time, but they were reasonably priced at $20 for 10 swings—a fair deal compared to what you'd find at a carnival.

Now, let’s talk numbers. The total cost for our day at the game, including tickets, parking, the tour, and food (8 sodas, 2 nachos, a delicious brisket mac and cheese—which I highly recommend—and a brisket egg roll with fries), added up to about $800. For any family, that’s a substantial amount for a single outing. We even snagged some All-Star merchandise on sale, adding to the day's excitement.

The transition to an indoor stadium has transformed the atmosphere. Globe Life Field is a stunning venue with impressive architecture and modern amenities. While it sometimes feels like a luxurious mall with a baseball game in the background, the experience is seamless and comfortable. The design is so smooth that you want to keep walking and exploring.

I’m particularly excited for Arlington to host some of the upcoming World Cup games. The new apartments and the Medal of Honor Museum next to the Loews Hotel are bringing fresh nightlife and revitalization to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Not to mention, Choctaw Stadium and the incredible work they are doing to support local communities and growth.

To be fair, we are biased in our love for the Rangers and I would be hard pressed to write anything negative about the Texas Rangers. Our love for the Rangers Live Game Experience remains unshakable. Our family has a deep connection to the team, from the days of old metal bleachers that would shake the world when the crowd got involved, to grabbing tickets at the local Winn-Dixie and holding on tight to our gloves, hoping to catch a fly ball. We are, and always will be, Rangers fans and proud Texans.

One of the highlights of our day was using Xreal glasses and the Beam Pro 2 to capture unique videos and photos during the pregame tour. The tour allowed us to see the concourses without the usual crowds, offering a different perspective of the ballpark. We even got to sit behind the dugout—if only for a moment—which was a special experience for my boys.

The technology added an exciting dimension to our day, allowing us to relive the moments in a more immersive way. The boys particularly loved the virtual roller coaster rides inside the stadium, which was a mind-blowing experience with Six Flags just across the street. And after the game, the Choctaw Stadium-sponsored drone show was a perfect finale, adding a high-tech touch to an already impressive day.

Overall, our time in the Arlington Entertainment District was exceptional. We love everything about the area, from Texas Live! to the new hotels and ongoing developments. With AT&T Stadium gearing up for the Cowboys’ games, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is buzzing with excitement as we approach the postseason and the start of football season.
