The Rise of Augmented Reality AI Assistants

In recent years, augmented reality (AR) has evolved from a novel technology into a powerful tool for interactive experiences, and now, AI assistants are taking it a step further. But what exactly are AR AI assistants, and why should you care? In this article, we'll explore what these assistants can do, who is leading the way in this technology, and why you might want to integrate one into your daily life.

Why You Need an AR AI Assistant

Imagine walking through a museum, and instead of reading a placard, an AI assistant in augmented reality appears before you, ready to provide detailed information about the exhibit you're viewing. This technology isn't just theoretical; it's already in use. Museums and art galleries have been early adopters, using AR AI assistants to bring exhibits to life. For example, at the Hall of State in Fair Park, visitors can experience the Alamo through stories told by historical figures brought to life via AR. The interactive experience allows you to choose which person you want to meet and learn from.

But AR AI assistants aren’t limited to museums. Imagine standing outside the Children’s Aquarium in Dallas, where an "Ask Me Anything" bot in the Spheroid Universe XR Hub app appears, ready to guide you around Fair Park or provide insights about the aquarium’s exhibits. These assistants can do much more than just offer information; in the future they can also enhance your experience with interactive elements like games, ticket purchasing options, and even exclusive discounts, making them a valuable tool for businesses and consumers alike.

Why Businesses Should Embrace AR AI Assistants

For businesses, the potential of AR AI assistants is vast. Take the example of the Texas State Fair or Fair Park. Imagine using AR to show off upcoming attractions or events while providing instant ticket purchasing options right there in the AR experience. Visitors could interact with a digital assistant, learn more about what’s happening, and even receive a discount on a famous Fletcher's corndog—all through an engaging, interactive AR interface.

Platforms like Spheroid Universe are leading the charge, offering tools to create and deploy these AI assistants in augmented reality. Spheroid Universe, notably the first decentralized augmented reality platform developed on the blockchain, has been a pioneer in this space. Over the past year, we've been actively working with Spheroid Universe to set up "Ask Me Anything" bots across various locations worldwide. During South by Southwest (SXSW), for example, we collaborated with artists like Spotty WiFi, integrating his VRM avatar into the city of Austin. Fans could find Spotty, ask questions, and interact with him in AR—an experience that was uniquely Spotty, down to his voice and responses.

We also collaborated with the United Empowerment Party, founded by Sephida Artis-Mills, to create "Cantaniman," an AI assistant designed to educate voters about their rights and the importance of using their voice. This platform’s ability to geolocate and integrate AR AI assistants into real-world locations, though still in development, shows great promise for the future of interactive experiences.

The Future of AR AI Assistants

One of the exciting aspects of Spheroid Universe’s XR Hub app is its geolocation capabilities. While still in the early stages, the platform allows users to scan and map real-world locations, which helps improve the accuracy of AR experiences. For example, by using the app to scan monuments or walls, users contribute data that enhances the AR experience for others, potentially unlocking new features like games or exclusive content in those areas.

These geospatial data points can also be monetized. Owners of these scanned locations can place digital assets in these geolocated spots, renting them out to advertisers or game developers. Imagine a popular game like "Planet Nostra" deciding to place in-game assets at a location you’ve scanned—now that’s a new way to make money!

Moreover, AR AI assistants are not just limited to fun and games. We’ve already begun integrating them into educational settings.

"Ask ame Anything" located at North Park Center on XR Hub

For example, at NorthPark Center in Dallas, visitors can use the "Ask Me Anything" bot to take a guided tour of the art exhibits curated by Nancy Nasher. The assistant doesn’t physically walk you through the gallery yet, but it provides a wealth of information, offering a richer, more engaging experience.

There have also been some incredibly creative uses of AR AI assistants on Spheroid Universe.

The Original MetaBotApe Collection

For instance, the "Metabot Ape" project, which features a playful narrative and interactive elements, allows users to connect inside of Nifty Islands and collect in-game items like banana guns and relics. These kinds of experiences demonstrate the versatility of AR AI assistants, blending entertainment with engagement in unique ways.

More recently, during the Earth Stock Summit in Colorado, attendees could interact with an AR assistant representing Michael Kamp, learning about the summit and the surrounding area, even receiving guidance in case they got lost in the mountains.

We’ve even seen humorous AR experiences as well, such as a fictional presidential debate between characters like Sheldon Cooper and Donald Trump, which provided both entertainment and a satirical look at politics.

Why You Should Get Started

The possibilities with these geospatial, decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePINs) are limitless. If you haven’t already, download the XR Hub app and explore what’s available in your area. Let us know where you are in the world and what you’d like to see—we might even be able to set up an AR experience just for you.

One of our primary goals in embracing this technology is to create accessible, fun, and interactive educational tools. We believe that by starting with basic conversations, we can build these assistants into more complex, interactive entities that can diagnose problems, display detailed AR overlays, and provide instant solutions.

So why not join the conversation today? Download the XR Hub app and start exploring the world of AR AI assistants—because the future of interaction is just around the corner.
