Did you know that 90% of YouTube channels never reach 10,000 subscribers? It’s a staggering statistic, but it shouldn’t discourage you. In fact, it should ignite a fire within you. If I can achieve this milestone, so can you. YouTube may have its challenges, but it remains the best video platform out there. Don’t buy into the notion that it favors larger channels. Instead, focus on learning from seasoned creators and finding your own path.
The Overwhelming World of YouTube
One thing I quickly discovered as I delved deeper into the world of YouTube is the abundance of information and differing opinions. It can be overwhelming and even paralyzing at times. But here’s the truth: there are no absolute rules when it comes to YouTube success. What works for one person may not work for another. Embrace the basics, seek guidance from mentors, but also trust your instincts and be willing to try new things. Remember the words of Peter McKinnon, “I don’t think you should ever put a limit on your creativity.”
A Transition from Television to Digital Media
As someone with a background in television, transitioning to digital media has been an interesting journey. Gone are the days of being part of a team. Now, I am the marketing department, the sales department, and the creative department all rolled into one. While it can be challenging at times, I have come to appreciate the freedom and flexibility that YouTube offers. It’s a platform of diversity, allowing creators to explore various formats and styles of content.

On my YouTube journey, I have dabbled in live streaming, video podcasts, vlogs, tutorials, and even shorts. There’s no perfect length or type of video. It’s about creating content that resonates with you and your audience. I firmly believe that we are all born with unique gifts, and one of mine is the ability to create. So, I create because it brings me joy and fulfillment. Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new things along your own YouTube journey. You never know what might resonate with your viewers.
Writing a Book: A Journey of Self-Publishing
This year, I finally checked off a long-standing item on my to-do list: writing a book. The process was far from easy, but it was incredibly rewarding. The book I wrote, “Live Streaming Made Easy,” wasn’t the book I initially envisioned, but it was the one I was called to write. Embracing my independent spirit, I chose to self-publish rather than hand over the rights to a traditional publisher. To my surprise, the book became a bestseller on Amazon within days of its release.
