Day 3 Hollywood Studios

Today was a big day… Jedi Training camp! My six year old had been watching this on youtube and loved the idea of it but was unsure if he would be brave enough to get up on stage and do it. He can get a little shy and nervous, but I knew if he could be brave he would love it! We left it till the morning for him to decide, making sure he knew we didn’t mind either way. I think Disney had worked its magic as he was suddenly certain that he wanted to give it a go.

It was EMH so we got to the par about 7.40 for the 8am opening. We were about 12 people back in our queue. I had sent Marc through bag check on his own bag free, so this saved a lot of time and got us nearer the front ☺

In theory you cant run once you get into the park… in theory…. There was a very clear divide when entering the park — half ran — sorry walked fast towards Toy story mania, and the other half ran — sorry walked fast.. to Jedi Training sign up. Anyway we made it and got on the 10.30am show which worked well with our fastpasses.

We could now relax and have a wander around. We got as far as Pixar place when I saw the Buzz and Woody meet. My 3 year old LOVES Toy story so this was a must do for us! It was so great to be able to do something that was for Miles which I knew he would love. It as about a 20 min wait, maybe our longest wait the whole holiday! But definitely worth it.

We then found ourselves in the honey I shrunk the kids playground. As it was still early it was nearly empty which was lovely. Unfortunately Miles had found the excitement of meetings his heros a little too much and was a tad “overwhelmed” shall we say…. My hubby pulled the short straw and got to deal with him while I got to play with William in the playground ☺

Once William had blown off his energy and Miles had been calmed down (aka bribed with popcorn) we headed back over for our Toy Story Mania FP. I sat with William and he loved this ride so much, it was in his words “Awesome!!” Im not sure that Miles really understood but Marc said he enjoyed it too.

It was now time to make our way over to the Jedi training. Theres quite a wait till they actually make their way over to the stage and William was looking more and more nervous by the second. But his nerves were also mixed with excitement and once he got on the stage he seemed totally fine. The padwans were spilt into two groups, half did their training on the stage and the other half on the floor in front of the stage. William was in the gtoup on the stage. Its worth noting that the group on the stage go on to battle Darth vader, while the group on the floor battle Darth moor. Something to remember to maybe warn your kiddies if they are doing it. It was a very busy day there (crowd levels 8/10) so maybe thats why they had the 2 groups.

First they train all the children in the ways of the Jedi using their training lightsabers.

But then suddenly things take a turn for the worse as Darth vader appears! Luckily there are lots of padawans to help defeat him! William did a wonderful job and showed no signs of nerves as he fought the dark side!

William throughly enjoyed this and he still loves his Jedi badge and jedi certificate.

We then nipped next door to Stars for our fastpass. Star tours is a 3d simulator ride with a starwars theme. This was great and I was even chosen as the rebel spy! Poor Miles hated it though and cried through it, luckily for everyone else the ride is very loud so it went someway to drown out his screams…

Next up was meeting Phineas and Ferb. William used to love them and still goes through phases of watching the programe. A recurring theme was Miles needing to wee at inopportune moments… he was only recently potty trained so it was still a little hit or miss. Of course he had to wee while waiting to meet them so marc dashed him to the little boys room. He actually got back just as William had finished meeting phineas and ferb but the cast memebers were great and let Miles slip in for a quick photo.

After this we had out Fastpasses for the Frozen singalong. We all really enjoyed this and were grateful for both the seat and the aircon! I apologise now to those sitting near me but I couldn't help singing along too.

We grabbed a quick lunch and had another play in the Honey I shrunk the children playground. I can totally see why the children love this. Wish there had been playgrounds like this in my day!

We had one last stop at the Muppets 3d movie which was fun. By now we were all very tired and hot and desperate for a swim at the hotel. So we made our way out, stopping just to have a quick dance with Olaf ☺
